Rules for the Day:

You must keep to the same playing order all day.

During games you must be absolutely quiet in the tournament hall.  This includes parents and teachers.  No talking to team members in the hall.  If you want to watch a team-mate’s games you must do so from the gallery, and don’t make eye contact with them.  If anyone complains about someone making contact with a player they will have to leave the hall.   If you talk to a player while they are playing they may have to default their game.

The only people other than players allowed in the playing area are the adjudicators.

After you have finished your game, write your score on the scoresheet and leave the playing area.  Players must not stay inside the area to watch.  When all games at the table are over the team captains must return to the floor to sign the scoresheet, take it off the table and deliver it to the front desk.  Re-set your boards after every game.  No casual games in the hall after you finish.

If there are any problems or your opponent does something you don’t understand, put your hand up immediately.  If you don’t say something straight away we won’t be able to help you.

Say ‘adjusting’ before adjusting one of your pieces.  Don’t adjust your opponent’s pieces.

All games are touch move!  If you touch one of your pieces you have to move it if you can.  If you touch an opponent’s piece you have to take it if you can.  NO  EXCEPTIONS.

Slow down and think!
